New York county, city, town, village, and special district government data, as provided by the state comptroller's office, include names and total pay (including overtime and other extras) for all employees for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009.

Other Notes:
(1) Pay “rate” data represent base pay only, not including overtime and other extras.
(2) The “YTD” column shows year-to-date total pay each data set's specified time period.
(3) Due to the state comptroller's classification practices, the pay rates of some full-time state employees are reported on a biweekly basis. Multiply biweekly amounts by 26 to estimate full-year base pay.
(4) Under the "agency" grouping for New York City, "personnel monitor" is a category of individuals who are occasionally called upon to proctor (i.e., watch over) civil service exams for an hourly fee of $5, which is processed by the city Office of Payroll Administration.  Persons in this category are not classified or counted as city employees, however.
(5) The "hire date" column for all data reported by the New York State Teachers Retirement System represents the employees date of membership in the system.
(6) Data not reported by Agency or Area is represented by a blank field or "NDR" in search results.
