DATA NOTES: School Districts

 

Payroll data in the "Schools" category is broken down into two categories (NYSTRS and NYSLRS), which can be separately searched under the "Subagency" tab:
 
- "NYSTRS Members" include elementary, secondary and post-secondary teachers and administrators; who belong to the New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS).  

"NYSLRS Members" include other employees--such as bus drivers, janitors and clerical support workers; who belong to the separate New York State Employee Retirement System, (NYSERS).
 
NYSTRS payroll data reflects information that is current as of June 30 for the years 2008 through 2022.
 
NYSERS payroll data reflects information that is current as of the dates below for the years 2009 through 2022:
 
-FY2022 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/22.
-FY2021 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/21.
-FY2020 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/20.
-FY2019 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/19. 
-FY2018 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/18.
-FY2017 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/17.
-FY2016 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/16.
-FY2015 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 3/31/15. 
-FY2014 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 4/25/14.
-FY2013 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 4/25/13.
-FY2012 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 5/25/12.
-FY2011 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 6/14/11.
-FY2010 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 7/7/10.
-FY2009 NYSERS data reflects information current in the NYSLRS database on 4/28/09.
  
 
Other Notes:

(1) Central Islip UFSD, East Islip UFSD, Nyack UFSD and Syracuse CSD 2008 data was provided by the individual school districts and is for the school year ending June 30, 2008.
 
(2) Due to nuances in reporting systems, select individuals may also appear in the executive payroll section.
 
(3) Individuals who retired during a given fiscal year will not show up in that fiscal year's payroll because they are no longer classified as active employees.
 
(4) Neither of the retirement systems collects information on job titles and responsibilities.
 
(5) NYSERS data is collected for the state fiscal year ending March 31.
